Abstract:
El presente estudio pretende analizar los actos de habla de petición en correos electrónicos reales, redactados por los autores nativos de español y de japonés del ámbito profesional, desde la perspectiva de la Pragmática Intercultural. El objetivo final es aportar información útil y práctica a los alumnos japoneses de Español como Lengua Extranjera (ELE), que proyectan su futuro laboral en el mundo hispanohablante. El análisis que planteamos en este trabajo pone el foco en las siguientes dos orientaciones. Por una parte, nos fijamos en la deixis de persona, en concreto, la selección de tipo del agente de la acción solicitada por la petición y el tratamiento de persona aplicada. Aunque tanto los redactores japoneses como los españoles buscan un mismo objetivo —establecer y mantener una buena relación con el interlocutor—, los usos que hacen de los deícticos de persona han mostrado un fuerte contraste lingüístico de origen sociocultural: la relación afiliativa de los españoles, que busca acercarse al interlocutor a fin de crear un ambiente cordial, frente al distanciamiento de los japoneses, que procura mantener una distancia interpersonal de acuerdo con la jerarquía social, como muestra de respeto hacia el receptor del mensaje. Por otra parte, centramos nuestra atención analítica en las expresiones empleadas en la formulación de la petición mediante dos enfoques: el grado de directividad del acto directivo y los mecanismos de cortesía verbal. El primero hace referencia a diferentes niveles de transparencia del intento ilocutivo del emisor. A lo largo de nuestra investigación, hemos observado algunas estrategias esencialmente divergentes en la frecuencia de uso y construcción gramatical entre las dos lenguas en cuestión. El segundo, la cortesía verbal, es un concepto pragmalingüístico íntimamente relacionado con los actos de habla directivos, sin embargo, no se coextiende con el grado de directividad en la formulación de la petición. Las formas corteses identificadas en nuestro corpus han mostrado una diferencia sustancial entre español y japonés: mientras que los autores españoles atenúan la fuerza ilocutiva para que el receptor acepte el contenido proposicional, los japoneses, en cambio, elevan lingüísticamente el estatus social del interlocutor a través de un lenguaje honorífico para obtener el mismo fin comunicativo. En síntesis, creemos que los fenómenos observados en este estudio serán de utilidad para el alumnado japonés de ELE no solo para profundizar su conocimiento acerca del patrón comunicativo de la formulación de peticiones, sino también para evitar conflictos comunicativos, ya que la petición es, como dice Brown y Levinson, una acción inherentemente impositiva. ; This study aims to analyze the speech act of requesting in business e-mails written by native Spanish and Japanese speakers through the perspective of Intercultural Pragmatics. The goal of this study is to provide useful information to Japanese students of Spanish as a foreign language. The analysis in this work focuses on the following two orientations. On the one hand, we look at the personal deixis, specifically, the type of the agent of the requested action and its personal pronoun form. Both Spanish and Japanese writers seek the same goal: to establish and maintain a good relationship with the interlocutor. However, their usage of personal deictics have shown a strong linguistic contrast of sociocultural origin: while the affiliative relationship is prioritized by the Spanish, who seeks to get closer to the interlocutor to create a cordial atmosphere, the distancing of the Japanese, who tries to maintain an interpersonal distance, is an essential requirement in their social norms as a sign of respect towards the receiver of the message. On the other hand, we investigate the expressions used in the request utterances through two approaches: the degree of directivity and the mechanisms of politeness. The first refers to different transparency levels of the sender's illocutionary intent. In our research, we have observed several differences in frequency of use, grammatical forms, and communicative functions between the two languages in question. The second, politeness, is a pragmalinguistic concept closely related to the directive speech acts. The politeness forms in our corpus have shown a substantial difference between both languages: while the Spanish senders tend to mitigate the illocutionary force so that the receiver accepts the propositional content, the Japanese, in contrast, elevate systematically the social status of the interlocutor through a set of honorific language resources to obtain the communicative purpose. In summary, the phenomena observed in this study will be helpful for Japanese students not only to deepen their knowledge about the communicative pattern of requests in workplaces, but also to avoid cultural conflicts, since the request is, as Brown and Levinson say, an act that threatens one’s public image by nature.
