Abstract: This item includes a segment of an instructor interview in a Writing Intensive course in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'When you designed assignment(s), what learning goals for students did you have in mind?' ; Brief excerpt from interview: How do they go about gathering data, what counts as data, what's primary data, what's secondary data . . . understand simple things like citations and how to do them correctly, that they need to cite everything that is not their own . . . an annotated bibliography with at least 3 scholarly sources . . . make the distinction between scholarly sources and non-scholarly sources . . . the kinds of learning objectives I include for the final research paper.
