Teaching literature in the ESL context: Evaluation and didactic proposal on the graphic novel V for Vendetta
Abstract: The didactics of literature in ESL gives rise to different theoretical and methodological approaches. This research is focused on the introduction of the genre graphic novel through the title V for Vendetta. In this work, the theoretical analysis is approached through the concept of literary reception in which the reader's interpretation and critical thinking are presented as key competences in the development of the literary competence, beyond the linguistic competence implicit in literature learning. Following these principles, we propose a tool for the evaluation of two didactic proposals on this title and, based on the conclusions drawn, we design a didactic proposal in which key competences such as interpretation and meaning discussion are worked together with intermodal comparative analysis and the development of critical thinking through activities aimed to train the four language skills with oral and written production and reception.
