Abstract:
; This work is within the scope of studies of the Master’s degree course in Portuguese as a nonnative language offered by Aberta University. It aims to reflect upon directive illocutionary acts, commissive speech acts, expressive speech acts, assertive speech acts and politeness strategies, both positive and negative, deriving from the creation and limitation of a study corpus made of twenty-three oral dialogues produced by seventeen students from A1.2/A1.3 and B1/B2 Portuguese levels in Hamburg, Germany. This research is based on studies in the field of Linguistic Pragmatics. We have analyzed the development of pragmatic skills during the performance of illocutionary acts in interactions which occurred in specific contexts with the ultimate goal of verifying how the speech acts and politeness strategies are produced by the students of Portuguese as a second language. Moreover, we have developed a Sociolinguistic Record with informations regarding the cultural and sociological background of the learners. From the collection and analysis of the obtained results, we found that the majority of students do not show any difficulties in formulations speech acts, mostly indirect ones, and use politeness strategies mainly in invitational acts and expressive acts.
