Abstract: Η τεράστια εξέλιξη που επιτελείται στο χώρο της Ιατρικής και της Τεχνολογίας μας παρέχει δύο επαναστατικά επιτεύγματα, τα ψηφιακά ακουστικά βαρηκοΐας και τα κοχλιακά εμφυτεύματα, τα οποία συνέχεια εξελίσσονται και βελτιώνονται και έχουν αλλάξει ριζικά την εκπαίδευση των βαρήκοων - κωφών παιδιών, ανοίγοντας νέες προοπτικές για την ισότιμη ένταξή τους μέσα στην τυπική εκπαίδευση και προσφέροντας δυνατότητες ώστε να παρακολουθήσουν και να συμμετάσχουν στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία, χωρίς η ακουστική τους ανεπάρκειας να αποτελεί εμπόδιο. Βασική προϋπόθεση για την ουσιαστική συμμετοχή των βαρήκοων - κωφών παιδιών στην τυπική εκπαίδευση αποτελεί η ανάπτυξη του προφορικού και του γραπτού λόγου, που θα συμβάλει στην κατάκτηση της ακαδημαϊκής γλωσσικής ικανότητας δίνοντάς τους τη δυνατότητα για επιτυχή ανταπόκριση στο αναλυτικό πρόγραμμα της τάξης τους. Για να διερευνηθεί η ανάπτυξη του λόγου των παιδιών με μεγάλου βαθμού βαρηκοΐα που χρησιμοποιούν κοχλιακό εμφύτευμα και να συγκριθεί με παιδιά που χρησιμοποιούν ... : Cochlear implants and digital hearing aids that constantly develop bring a breakthrough that takes place in the fields of Medicine and Technology. They have brought enormous change in the education of the hard-of- hearing and deaf children, opening new horizons that will allow their successful mainstreaming in the typical education classrooms, enhancing their potential to participate in the educational process without being left behind due to their hearing loss. The main prerequisite for their participation is the development of the oral and written language through which they will acquire the academic language proficiency. Academic language proficiency will give them the opportunity to successfully participate in the academic curriculum.
