Die diskursive Aufbereitung des Kopftuchverbots durch die ÖVP-FPÖ-Koalition

Abstract:
Diese Masterarbeit setzt sich mit der sprachlichen Instrumentalisierung des Kopftuchverbots zwischen 2018 und 2019 durch die damalige ÖVP-FPÖ-Koalition auseinander. Konkret wird die Debatte rund um die seitens der Bundesregierung geforderte Einführung eines Kopftuchverbots in Kindergärten und Volksschulen aus diskurstheoretischer Sicht beleuchtet. Im Rahmen der Kritischen Diskursanalyse nach Ruth Wodak werden Argumentationsschemata aufgezeigt, die die Debatte prägen. Untersucht wird, in welchem Zusammenhang diese Thematisierung mit Pierre Bourdieus Theorie „Sozialer Raum und symbolische Macht“ steht, deren Grundlage die Vorstellung bildet, dass politische RepräsentantInnen, als Träger meinungsführender Macht im öffentlichen Diskurs, für soziale Zuschreibung in der Gesellschaft verantwortlich sind. Im empirischen Teil dieser Arbeit wird aufgezeigt, dass der Kopftuchdiskurs der ÖVP den Thesen Bourdieus dahingehend entspricht, als in der ÖVP-Diskursführung kulturelle Zuschreibung im Sinne der Unterscheidung zwischen einer „Wir“-Gruppe und MuslimInnen stattfindet. Die FPÖ agiert in ihrer Argumentationsstrategie ähnlich, wenngleich sie – entsprechend dem für die Partei wichtigen Agitationsthema der kulturellen Andersheit – rhetorisch aggressiver auftritt. ; This master thesis adresses the linguistic instrumentalization of the restriction wearing the veil through the Austrian government consisting of the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) and the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) between 2018 and 2019. In detail this thesis focuses on the discursive argumentation for introducing a legal prohibition to veil in public kindergardens and elementary schools in Austria. Methodically the research is based on the Critical Discourse Analysis by Ruth Wodak, that aims to reveal argumentative regularities, which shape the debate. Main focus of the study is the question how the argumentation of the two parties responds to Pierre Bourdieus theory of „Social space and symbolic power“. Bourdieu holds the opinion that political representatives serve as owners of symbolic power in attributing particular notions to specific social groups. Empirically this study proves that the ÖVP actually uses strategies of cultural attribution to differentiate between a „We“-group and people with a Muslim background. The FPÖ argues similarly, however rhetorically more aggressive.
