De lo verbal a lo simbólico: un paso clave en el uso del álgebra como herramienta para la resolución de problemas y la modelización matemática
Abstract: En este capítulo se analizan los resultados de investigaciones que informan sobre el proceso de traducción del sistema de representación verbal al simbólico. Recurrimos a la literatura para conocer qué se sabe sobre cómo los estudiantes abordan este proceso, las dificultades y errores que presentan, y sus posibles causas. De este modo contribuimos a las investigaciones interesadas en esta temática particular, y avanzamos en la comprensión de los complejos procesos de aprendizaje del simbolismo algebraico. La información aquí recogida también resulta de utilidad para informar la enseñanza del álgebra escolar. ; In this chapter we analyze the results of previous studies about the process of translation from the verbal to the symbolic representation system. By looking at the literature we identify what is known about how students deal with this process, the difficulties and errors they present and their possible causes. In this way we contribute to research on this topic and advance on understanding the complex process of learning algebraic symbolism. The information here presented is also of use to inform school algebra teaching.
