Abstract: The present study is a secondary data analysis of a novel values-based intervention study for promoting endocrine therapy adherence among women diagnosed with breast cancer. Endocrine therapy adherence is essential because nonadherence predicts disease recurrence and mortality. Participants were randomly assigned to one of two conditions: an online education program or an education and values program (called “REACH”). The present study primarily examines data only from participants assigned to the combined education and values program. In the combined education and values program, participants completed three sets of values exercises that prompted them to reflect on their values as sources of motivation for adherence. Participants recorded their written responses to the values activities in the online program. Participants in both conditions reported on their affective states throughout the intervention.
