Elf bachtinsche Begriffe

Abstract:
Das Vorhaben, bestimmte Begriffe aus den Werken Michail Michailowitsch Bachtins auszuwählen und genauer zu betrachten, bringt neben dem Problem der Auswahl eine Reihe gewichtiger Entscheidungen mit sich. Da Bachtins Begriffe beweglich sind, könnte man in Versuchung geraten, einzelne Begriffe vorschnell einzuschränken, anstatt die gesamte Bewegung des Begriffs auszuführen. In diesem Zusammenhang taucht eine weitere Frage auf: Wie kann man das Denkens Bachtins so darstellen, dass all die vielseitigen Facetten eines Begriffs zur Geltung kommen? Diese Arbeit orientiert sich vor allem an Bachtins Werk Das Wort im Roman, das bereits im Titel zwei zentrale Begriffe aufruft: das Wort und den Roman. Diese zwei Begriffe umfassen eine Vielzahl anderer Begriffe, wie z. B. Autor, Dialog, Monolog, Held und Gattung, um nur einige hervorzuheben. Eine der größten Herausforderung, die die Hinwendung an die einzelnen Begriffe im Rahmen des definitorischen Blicks provoziert, besteht darin, Bachtins Begriffe isoliert zu bestimmen, denn wenn man über den Begriff des Autors schreibt, muss man auch die Begriffe des Dialogs, des Monologs, des Helden und der Gattung im Auge behalten. Bachtin beschäftigte sich sein ganzes Leben intensiv mit dem Wort, und daher müssen die Wissenschaftler, die seine Begriffe erläutern, auch eingehend mit seinen Wörtern arbeiten. Eine präzise und aufmerksame Arbeitsweise ist unabdingbar, um der Beweglichkeit der bachtinschen Begriffe in der Beschreibung gerecht zu werden. Wir müssen die verschiedenen Kontexte der Begriffe in den Werken präzise ausdifferenzieren, um sie auszuarbeiten. Aus diesem Grund beschränke ich meine Auswahl auf elf Begriffe: Der Andere, Architektonik, Autor(schaft), Chronotopos, Dialogizität, Gattung, Heteroglossie, Handlung, Monolog, Sprechgattungen und Verantwortung. Da Bachtins Begriffe untrennbar von Dostoevskij, Stalinismus und die russische Kultur des 20. Jahrhunderts überhaupt, wird die Autobiographie Das Jahrhunderte der Wölfe von Michail Bachtins Zeitgenossin Nadeschda Mandelstamm verwendet, um die relevanten historischen Kontexte der elf Begriffe zu berücksichtigen. Vor jedes Lemma ist ein Zitat Nadeschda Mandelstam gesetzt, um die Begriffe zu kontextualisieren. Die Zitate fungieren als kleine Bildnisse der Stalinzeit, mit denen die Begriffe Bachtins sich assoziieren lassen. ; The undertaking of selecting and treating the concepts of Mikhail Mikhailovich Bakhtin brings about, in addition to the selection of these concepts, a variety of difficult decisions. Because of the flexibility of Bakhtin’s concepts, one could be tempted to prematurely box in any given concept, instead of observing the entire movement of that particular concept to its conclusion. In connection with this thought, another question reveals itself: How can one represent Bakhtin’s thought, so that the versatile facets of a concept come into view? This thesis orients itself with Bakhtin’s Discourse in the Novel, which calls two central concepts to the fore in its title: Discourse (which we can generalize as the word) and the novel. These two concepts encompass many of Bakhtin’s other ideas, for example, that of the author, dialogue, monologue, hero, and genre – to name a few. One of the greatest challenges to the Bakhtinian scholar in defining Bakhtin’s concepts, is the tendency of lexicons to define each individual concept in isolation. But when one attempts to define Bakhtin’s concept of the author, for instance, then she must also consider the concepts of dialogue, monologue, hero, and genre. Bakhtin spent his entire life contemplating the word, and for this reason, the researchers who work with Bakhtinian concepts must also work in-depth with his words. A precise and attentive method is imperative when working with Bakhtin, so that the flexibility of the Bakhtinian concepts are justly represented in their descriptions. In order to do this, we must differentiate the many contexts of each concept, in order to flesh out every aspect of a given concept. For this reason, I have limited my selection to eleven of Bakhtin’s concepts: action, answerability/responsibility, architectonics, author(ship), the chronotope, dialogism, genre, heteroglossia, monologue, the other, and speech genres. Since Bakhtin’s concepts are inseparable from Dostoevskij, Stalinism, and the Russian culture of the 20th century overall, Nadezhda Mandelstam’s memoir Hope against Hope will also be used to take the relevant, historical contexts of each concept into account. A quotation from Mandelstam’s memoir will precede each lemma, in order to contextualize these concepts. The quotes function as small portraits of the Stalin-era, with which we can associate Bakhtin’s concepts.
