Abstract: 英語教育の早期化および教科化が導入されることになり、今後小学校における英語指導、また小学校での学びをどう効果的に中学校につなげるかという小中連携がますます重要になってくる。本稿では、中学校検定教科書6冊の教科書分析を通して小中連携がどう実践されているかを検証する。具体的には、Unit 1 の前にある小学校外国語活動の復習と中学校の英語授業へ円滑に接続することを目的とした課、いわゆる「Unit 0」についての外的分析と内的分析することにより、小中連携について各教科書の特徴をまとめるとともに、今後の小中連携についてのありかたについて考察する。 ; English will be introduced to younger learners and will also become a proper subject in elementary schools in Japan. From this perspective, the transition from elementary to junior high school concerning English education is becoming increasingly important. In order to explore one aspect of this transition, the currentpaper examines six junior high school textbooks. Specifically, the paper analyzes the first chapter of each textbook, so-called Unit 0, which is designed to play a transitional role. The results of the analysis show how the transition is carried out in these junior high school textbooks and implications are suggested about thefuture direction of English education in Japan.
