Abstract: This contribution aims to illustrate the results of a survey conducted in the academic year 2020/2021 in the online Italian language courses for international students (from level A1 to C1 of the CEFR - Common European Framework, Council of Europe, 2001) at the Linguistic Center of the University of Salerno, with the aim of answering the following research questions: what are the reasons that led to international mobility in a moment of pandemic? What was the evaluation of the experience of teaching the Italian language at a distance compared to the techniques and strategies used?
