Munus Amicitiae Norbert Oettinger a collegis et amicis dicatum., Beech Stave Press, pp.262-275, 2014, 978-0-9895142-1-7 (2014)
Abstract: International audience ; Hittite and other Indo-European languages have reflexes of abstracts based on verbal adjectives or participles in *-e/ont-, such as Hitt. tukkanzi- 'cultivation, breeding'. The paper propose to analyse according to the same pattern a small class of Vedic feminine abstracts in -ati-, the derivation of which is not yet ascertained: Vedic aṃhatí- 'distress', dṛśatí- 'look, appearance', °dhrajati- 'swiftness', vasatí- 'nest, dwelling'. On the basis of their respective derivational sets, it is proposed to derive the suffix from *-ṇt-í-, an abstract based on the weak allomorph of a verbal adjective.
