Abstract:
Multimodality is a relevant factor in foreign language teaching at secondary education since it can affect the learning process of students in a negative or positive way. This paper aims to carry out an analysis of multimodal communication in EFL at secondary English classrooms in order to discover which are the most important aspects in relation to the students’ learning process, and which are the advantages and disadvantages of providing an adequate use of the multimodal communication in classrooms. The used methodology is based on action research and qualitative research. Through this method, two secondary English teachers at I.E.S have been analysed from a multimodal perspective while they were teaching. As a result, it has been verified the positive significance of using and combining the four modes (spoken, written, non-verbal materials and body language) properly at secondary English as a foreign language classrooms.
