Abstract:
Debido a su importancia en la sociedad colonial, el latín americano ha sido estudiado desde muchos puntos de vista diferentes; sin embargo, cuestiones como su pronunciación han sido menos abordadas por los estudiosos. Este trabajo pretende analizar cómo es oralizado el latín de la Audiencia de Guatemala durante el siglo xviii, con el propósito de señalar sus principales características fónica; se demuestra que se trata de un latín modulado por los hábitos fónicos de la lengua materna de sus hablantes, y en este caso fuertemente españolizado por medio de los principales rasgos dialectales que presentan las hablas hispánicas de la región. ...
