Abstract:
The language, which for centuries has served as an instrument of unity among its members, is now facing an unclearprospectin its efforts to find a balance between the decline in the number of its speakers and the increased efforts torevive it. The aim of the article is to examine the current situation of the Judeo-Spanish language, a Hispanic linguistic variety found in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to predict the future of the language in this area where there are few native speakers. This was made possible by conducting interviews with two of the speakers from Sarajevo. ; La lengua que durante siglos ha funcionado como instrumento de cohesión entre los miembros de la comunidad sefardí tiene ante sí un porvenir incierto, ante el cual trata de encontrar un equilibrio entre la disminución del número de hablantes y el aumento de los esfuerzos institucionales para su revitalización. El objetivo del presente artículo es el acercamiento a la situación actual que presenta en Bosnia-Herzegovina la variedad lingüística hispánica conocida como judeoespañol, para intentar vislumbrar el futuro de la lengua en una de las zonas donde todavía podemos encontrar algunos hablantes nativos. Tal aproximación ha sido posible gracias a las conversaciones llevadas a cabo con dos de estos hablantes en la ciudad de Sarajevo
