A large class of ellipses is isolated, encompassing such traditionally distinct linguistic rules as Right-node Raising, Gapping, VP-Deletion, Coordinate Reduction, and other phenomena which crosses sentence boundaries. The members of this class of ellipses involve implicit or explicit coordination. A uniform algorithm implemented in the UC (Unix Consultant) natural language system resolves the ellipses in this class, and constraints are given which govern the production of those ellipses.
