Abstract:
Eleuterio Gorostiza y Cristina Vázquez plactican acerca de los diferentes tipos de epazote. Vázquez comenta que existe epazote blanco, morado y chino. El epazote chino se parece al epazote blanco pero el chino crece más alto con las hojas más grandes y dentadas. Tiene semillas y flor verdes. El epazote morado tiene el tallo, la flor y las hojas con tendencia a morado. El epazote se usa para desparasitar. Se utilizan cuatro ramitas preparadas en té. O bien se puede asar el epazote sobre comal, agregarle un poco de aguardiente y ponerlo como emplasto sobre el estómago. También menciona que el epazote sirve para condimento a comidas como de camarones, pescado y pollo. Además a menudo se usa para sazonar a frijoles. Finalmente, Vázquez menciona que la yerbabuena también sirve para desparasitar. Las hojas se preparan en té. Una vez hervidas las hojas se colocan sobre una hoja amarga con un poco de aceite. Vázquez no da el nombre de la hoja amarga que menciona pero quizá sea la hoja santa (a:ko:kohxiwit, Critonia morifolia (Mill.) R.M. King & H. Rob.).
