; In the mid-1970s, the Louisiana Project mobilized a multidisciplinary team of Canadian researchers to study far-off French-speaking Louisiana “in all its complexity and contradictions.” By examining this initiative, we are interested in issues related to the spirit of solidarity of the Louisiana Project vis-à-vis the ethnic renewal then in progress. A meta-scientific study, the article focuses on a twofold objective: firstly, to identify the multiple positions regarding Louisiana environments and settings and, secondly, to examine the experiences of research assistants from both Quebec and Louisiana as consciously lived experience likely to foster an ethno-linguistic commitment.
