Abstract:
Die Forschungswerkstatt "Das Auge forscht mit", die 2016 vom Leibniz-Institut für Länderkunde in Leipzig angeboten wurde, bot eine Plattform für kritische Reflexionen von Visualisierungen in der raumbezogenen Forschungspraxis sowie für das Erproben und Diskutieren neuer innovativer Forschungsmethoden. Vor dem Hintergrund einer phänomenologisch-hermeneutischen wissenschaftlichen Grundperspektive boten wir einen experimentellen Workshop mit dem Titel „Zeichnen als epistemisches Verfahren. Eine geographische Werkstatt“ an. Ziel des Workshops bestand darin, die Bedeutung des Zeichnens als eine epistemische Praxis, die Neues hervorbringt, für die raumbezogene Wissenschaft Geographie (wieder) ins Bewusstsein zu rufen. Wird das Zeichnen zur epistemischen Praxis, über die eine Geographie Form gewinnen kann, die sich im Entstehen und Entwurf begreift, handelt es sich um ein Tun, das Wissen schafft und produktiv ist. Produktivität in der Forschung, so unser Argument, setzt dann ein, wenn Sinnlichkeit und Reflexion als komplementäre Teile des Forschungsprozesses begriffen werden. Unser Workshopformat gab den Teilnehmern auf verschiedenen Ebenen Anregungen, um das Verhältnis von sinnlichem Erleben und sprachlich-rationalem Begreifen im Forschungsprozess zu erleben und zu reflektieren. In unserem Beitrag setzen wir uns vor dem Hintergrund des Forschungsstandes zur ästhetischen Dimension der Geographie mit der Verhältnisbestimmung von sinnlichem und kognitivem Begreifen auseinander, begründen den Aufbau des Workshops und reflektieren den Erkenntnisgewinn. Schließlich zeigen wir auf, welche Folgen das Ernstnehmen der ästhetischen Dimension der geographischen Forschung für das Fach- und Wissenschaftsverständnis und die Identität des Forschenden hat. ; The research workshop "Das Auge forscht mit" [Research is also a visual experience], which was offered by the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography in Leipzig in 2016, provided a platform for critical reflections of visualizations in spatial research practice as well as for the examination and discussion of new innovative research methods. Against the background of a basic phenomenological-hermeneutic scientific perspective, we offered an experimental workshop entitled "Drawing as an epistemic procedure: a geographical workshop". The aim of the workshop was to (re)raise awareness of the importance of drawing as an epistemic practice that produces innovations for spatial-related geography. If drawing becomes an epistemic practice, through which geography can take shape that is understood in its creation and design, it is an action that creates knowledge and is productive. Our argument is that productivity in research begins when sensory perception and reflection are understood as complementary parts of the research process. Our workshop format provided participants with suggestions on various levels to experience and reflect on the relationship between sensory experience and linguistic-rational comprehension within the research process. In our contribution, we examine the relationship between sensory and cognitive comprehension against the background of the state of research at the aesthetic dimension of geography, substantiate the structure of the workshop and reflect on the gain in terms of knowledge. Finally, we show what consequences the seriousness of the aesthetic dimension of geographical research has for the understanding of the subject and of science and for the identity of the researcher.
