Abstract:
International audience ; Seduction occupies a fundamental place in the history of human relations, as it seems to have initiated ‘softer’ kinds of interaction with the other, sometimes superseding physical violence. This introduction attempts a theorisation of seductive discourse that goes beyond amorous relations to include the art of seduction in politics, advertising, literature or ideology. It intends to bring to the fore the linguistic, stylistic, cognitive and pragmatic springs of these strategies of influence which seem to be inherent to everyday speech. In its most extreme version, the aim of seductive discourse is to lead the reader/listener astray, ‘away from her self’, towards the vision or opinion held by the writer/orator. The article displays to what extent the art of seduction can be said to retain part of the violence that it was meant to replace. This E-rea issue is the result of the work carried out within a seminar series on “seductive discourse” organised at Aix-Marseille University. The different articles that compose it reveal the linguistic masks and the discursive strategies of seduction in various corpora and from different perspectives. ; Dans l’histoire des relations humaines, la séduction occupe une place fondamentale, car elle est à l’origine d’un type de rapport à l’autre plus « doux » par rapport à la violence physique qu’elle a parfois remplacée. Cette introduction offre une tentative de théorisation du discours séducteur, à entendre ici au sens large, depuis les relations de désir jusqu’aux différentes formes de séduction politique, publicitaire, littéraire ou idéologique, afin d’en mettre en lumière les ressorts linguistiques, stylistiques, cognitifs et pragmatiques. Cette stratégie d’influence semble inhérente à tout discours. Dans sa version la plus extrême, la séduction vise à sortir le lecteur/l’auditeur « hors de son soi » (se) pour le conduire (ducere) sur un autre chemin. Cet article explore dans quelle mesure la séduction conserve une partie de la « violence » dont elle est l’héritière. Fruits du travail mené au sein d’un séminaire soutenu par l’Institut Universitaire de France sur la « séduction du discours » organisé en 2015 et 2016 au LERMA (Aix-Marseille Université), les différents articles de ce dossier révèlent les masques linguistiques et les stratégies discursives de la séduction dans des corpus variés et selon des perspectives multiples.
